Organizing Alumni Network Events

SAC organizes events for its members including those related to members’ profession/ filed of practices.
For example, SAC organized a mini art exhibition at its offices for alumni artists. A Uganda’s re-known artist and alumni, Mr. Kakaire Samuel displayed his abstract visual art works and a few pieces are shown in the images below.

Mr. Kakaire art works will feature at Soyuz Africa Connection Pavilion at the planned Uganda Moscow Export Exhibition scheduled to begin on 21st Maty to 27th May 2023. organized an art exhibition.

September 2022

Russian State Scholarships Awarded to Students Studying Russian Language at Soyuz Africa Connections
Four students were awarded state scholarships for Academic Year 2022/2023 that commenced in September 2022. Prior, to the award these students had displayed exemplary achievements in studies; Russian language, scene-based studies and social activities. Two female students were selected to study Medicine, while the other two were in Computer Science. Students are currently undertaking preparatory studies in Russian language in various universities namely, Tula State University and Ulyanovsk State University for the females students, respectively and Berograd State University and Volgograd State University for the Computer studies.

February 2023

For Academic year 2023/2024, five students from SAC submitted their application for award of Russian State scholarships. Selections of successful applicants will be announced in May 2023
Note; The five applicants have been on a Beginners Course in Russian Language for the last 3 months at Soyuz Africa Connections

April 2023

Visit by Representative of ALABUGA Vocational Traini ng (Program 17th April – 21st April 2023)
Two members of Soyuz Africa Connections, namely Mr. Kassim Nsubuga and Mr. Paul Kasule attended a presentation about Scholarships offered by ALABUGA Vocational Training Program, Tatarstan Autonomous Republic of The Russian Federation. The lead presenter was Ms. Luliia Markova from ALABUGA who explained the process of applying for the 218 scholarships offered to Uganda students. This is a du training scheme that provide training in working professions and practices at facilities of the Special Economic Zone in Alabuga. Scholarships offered are in 10 fields of studies.

19th April 2023

On 19th April 2023, His Excellence the Ambassador of The Russian Federation to Uganda, Ambassador Vladlen Semivolos together with the Counselor Evgeny Kalashnikov hosted the Chairman of Soyuz Africa Connections (SAC) – a leading Ugandan alumni association of educational institutions of countries of the former Soviet Union and Russian Federation.

May 2023

The Chairman of SAC, Mr. Lubowa Michael was accompanied by Director of Communication of SAC, Mr. Deogratias Kamya. Hosts and visitors discussed prospects of education and cultural cooperation with Russia. The Ambassador was informed of the planned participation of SAC in the Uganda Export 2023 Exhibition scheduled between 21st May-27th May 2023 in Moscow. The Chairman disclosed that association will organize a get-together event of association alumni in currently residing in Uganda and His Excellence the Ambassador will be invited for that occasion.

Mr. Samuel Kakaire is an Alumni of St Petersburg State Academy of Art and Design named after Alexander von Stieglitz.

June 2023

⧠ In June 2023, ALABUGA extended for another 30 days its recruitment program for female Vocational Students from Uganda until 30th June 2023. Soyuz Africa Connections assisted applicants in providing counseling and their preparation for admission to Vocational institute.
